Are you in love with the farmhouse decor but don’t know where to begin? Do you love looking at home decor but have no idea where to begin when it comes to your home? In today’s post, I’m sharing 36 farmhouse home decor pieces that are on my current shopping list. I’ll also be breaking down where the items will be going and giving alternative decorating tips.
As most of you know, Brad and I bought our *hopefully* forever home five weeks and it’s a major fixer upper. While the home is totally livable, it was in dire need of some TLC and updating. In the five weeks that we have been living in our home, we’ve (aka Brad) removed wallpaper, painted all of our oak trim and window seats white, repaired a ceiling, painted all of our rooms (ceiling and walls), painted our railing and front door, installed recessed lighting in our kitchen, and started on a complete remodel of our half bath. Now that we are almost done with our house, it’s time to start thinking about home decor.
36 Farmhouse Home Decor Pieces:
Signs & Wall Art //
There are so many amazing signs and wall art pieces available and let me tell you, I’m obsessed. I love how adding a sign can completely change the look of a room. Or a small sign can just give the perfect touch. In our home, I’ll be adding some signs to our powder room. I’m really loving the script ‘powder room’ wall art. It’s such a unique piece and I love the idea of putting it on the wall above the door way entering the bathroom. Other signs that will be going in one of our bathrooms is the ‘wash your hands’ sign. It’s such a cute accent that is perfect for your bathroom.
In addition to the bathroom, signs/wall art will be placed throughout my home. Now that we have large walls, gallery walls are needed. Gallery walls are definitely a big trend for multiple reasons as they are a great way to display family photos but you can add pretty prints to add an additional effect to your photo collage.
Faux Plants & Planters //
As someone who has a black thumb, investing in faux plants that look real is a great alternative. There are so many ways to style faux plants in planters. Not only will I be placing faux plants and fun planters throughout my house, but I’ll also be hanging some in our sun porch to help bring the outside inside. Plus, faux plants just make your home feel more like home.
Rugs are definitely a must when it comes to your home. Not only do they allow you to wipe off your feet but rugs are a great decor accent. If you have the same floor throughout your house, adding rugs is a great way to break up your floor. The layered rug trend is a a trend that I’m obsessed with as it gives your area a unique look. I did this on our front porch and it just makes our entrance stand out even more.
A bigger house calls for new furniture. All of the pieces above are pieces that are currently in my online shopping cart or will be in my shopping cart. The two outdoor furniture pieces, the galvanized bench and rocking chair, definitely feel like you’re sitting outside your farmhouse. I can definitely see us sitting in our rocking chairs, sipping sun tea, and watching the neighborhood. Doesn’t that just sound perfect? Another furniture piece worth mentioning is the collapsible bench. This bench is perfect for your guest room. You can easily display a set of towels and wash cloths for your guest. Another option is to leave a cute gift for your guests that once your guests remove the gift they can place their luggage on the bench so that they don’t have to live off of the floor.
Glassware, Kitchenware, & Serveware //
With summer quickly approaching, dinners outside and barbecues are in our near future. As someone who loves a cohesive tablescape and separating the interior kitchenware from the exterior, it’s time to look at new options. I found the pretty pink/blush kitchenware and knew these pieces would be perfect for eating outside or inside our sun porch. I love that these pieces are heavy duty plastic and extremely affordable. I don’t know about you but I hate bringing glass outside because I’m always afraid of dropping them. The cart is also a perfect addition to our sun porch and will making serving so much fun. Plus, once summer is over, the cart will make a great addition in our basement game room. If you don’t have another place to relocate your cart, don’t worry. Simply decorate your cart with the different seasons as you would your main living space.
Decorative Accent Pieces //
There are so many farmhouse inspired decorative accent pieces. I’ve rounded up a few that will go perfect in any room, it all depends on where you like them. One thing to keep in mind is that each room should still flow together and that less is more. While there are so many great pieces, remember not to over do the pieces. Mirrors make great accent pieces because there are so many different shapes, sizes, and designs. I love the idea of adding a round mirror to our entry way with other pieces of wall art to create a warm welcome to our home. Other ideas for mirrors would be to remove the traditional mirror in your bathroom and add a fun option.
