Hey babes! We are in the midst of the holiday season and winter will be here before we know it. While the holidays can bring so much cheer, the holidays can be overwhelming, stressful, and tolling on our mind, body, and spirit. Enjoying every second of the holidays is great, but it’s important to focus on ourselves. The best way to take care of ourselves is to practice self-care in the winter and during the holiday season. Not only am I bringing you 25 ways to practice self-care in the winter, but I’ll be sharing with you some of my struggles and why I’ve been turning to self-care more and more this season.
How to Practice Self-Care in the Winter:
When it comes to self-care, there are so many ways you can practice self-care, especially in the winter. It’s important to find ways to take care of yourself that allows you to relax, de-stress, breathe, and find ways to be with yourself. For me, I take a bubble bath while a mask sets, read a couple chapters of a book I’ve been dying to read and unplug. During the winter, I love to drive around with a hot chocolate, listen to Christmas music, and admire Christmas lights throughout the neighborhood. It’s just so calming. The best way for me to practice self-care is by working on my skin in the form of a skincare routine, especially during the cold, dry winter season.
My Current Skincare Routine:
Right now, I’m LOVING my current skincare routine. With the help of the AVEENO® POSITIVELY RADIANT® collection, my skin feels hydrated, glowy, awake, and refreshed. Here’s how I do my skincare routine:
Step 1 //
Start with the Positively Radiant Micellar Gel Cleanser which I love. This is a hydrating facial cleanser that gently washes away makeup, oil and other skin-dulling impurities that I suffer from. The micellar facial cleanser and makeup remover are designed to help enhance skin’s natural radiance, which makes me so happy! At almost 30, taking care of my skin is such a high priority.
Step 2 //
Next, I add a few pumps of the Maxglow Serum + Primer. This is a brightening face primer and serum hydrates skin and creates a glowing canvas for makeup. This serum + primer is heaven! I love that this product moisturizes and enhances my skin’s natural radiance for a lit-from-within glow. I’m all about that glow life.
Step 3 //
Lastly, the Maxglow No Mess Sleep Mask which is a nighttime face mask helps even skin tone and texture for soft, luminous skin when you wake. This sleep mask is perfect for my dry skin during the harsh Ohio winter nights. What I love most about this sleep mask is the paddle applicator which gives a mess-free application.
Step 4 //
Once a week, I’ll apply the Maxglow Peel off Mask. This is a smoothing and brightening face mask that gently exfoliates and helps lift away my dull, tired skin. #thanksohioweather. Just like the other products, this is a mess-free product. All I have to do is apply the mask, let it dry, and peel off (without rinsing) to reveal smoother looking skin with an evener tone and texture.
**If you want even more glow, you can pick up the Maxglow Infusion Drops which is a hydrating serum provides 48 hours of moisturization and enhances skin’s natural radiance.

The Importance of Self-Care:
There’s no denying that self-care is important. If you’ve been around for a while, you know that I’ve suffered from postpartum. While I wouldn’t necessarily describe it as postpartum depression or anxiety, I’ve felt lost, alone, and confused on life. I’ve shared my view on myself and my mentality and in the new year, I’ll be diving in deeper on what all has been going on with me. I’ve learned that it’s so important to take 20-30 minutes a day to focus on ourselves. Most of the items on the above list only take 20-30 minutes to do which is a great way to recoup, recharge, and refocus on yourself.
PIN FOR LATER!
Life is crazy, especially around the holidays. While the holidays typically bring holiday cheer, holiday depression is real. People struggle year round and even more at the holidays. I’d love to encourage you to really prioritize yourself this holiday season, even if it seems impossible. Find a way to take care of you while enjoying the holidays.
