21 Baby Registry Must-Haves

Happy Thursday, lovelies! When it came to registering for our baby, I was extremely overwhelmed. Not only are there so many things to buy but each item has a million options. While most people register for things like clothes, towels, toys, and other fun items, there are 21 baby registry must-haves that you need before baby arrives. These items include must-haves for feeding, the nursery, traveling, and of course, the essentials.

21 Baby Registry Must-Haves

Feeding:

No matter if you are deciding to breastfeed or bottle feed, there are a few essentials that you need to make feeding easier. The first thing is bottles. Each baby is different, so the bottles I am purchasing may not work for you, heck, they might not work for our baby. I’ve heard amazing things about the Dr. Brown anti-colic bottles, I decided to go with the green bottles. To go along with the bottles, a bottle warmer is a must.

Think about getting a Boppy pillow to keep the baby comfortable while you feed. Not only can you use the Boppy to help support the baby while feeding, you can use the Boppy for tummy time or lay the baby in. When the baby is able to sit up or the baby is getting close to sitting up, a Bumbo chair provides great support. Plus, a Bumbo seat is great to travel with so you don’t have to bring a high chair.

Nursery:

When it comes to getting the nursery ready for baby’s arrival, there are a handful of large items that you need. We decided to buy the big items but registering for them is a great option. Some items that I highly recommend registering for would be a nice rocking chair. A rocking chair is going to be used a lot for rocking the baby to sleep, reading to the baby, late night feedings, and when you need some quiet time. The next large item to add to your registry would be a bassinet.

Now that you have your big items registered for, think about some of the smaller nursery must-haves. Diaper Genie should be high on everyone’s list. Nobody wants to smell a dirty diaper so get yourself a Diaper Genie to keep your nursery clean and smelling nice.

Sound machines are great for helping the baby go to sleep. There are so many options out there but I recommend registering for a sound machine that has multiple sound options including a heartbeat option. The baby is used to listening to your heartbeat so it is perfect to play for your little one. When it comes to safety, a monitor is a must! Again, there are multiple options so be sure to do your research and select a monitor that is best for you and your baby. Lastly, a bouncer chair is a great registry must-have. These chairs are perfect to soothe an upset baby, as well as keep the baby entertained.

Travel:

There’s no doubt about it, you will be doing lots of traveling with your new baby. Whether it is traveling to the doctor’s office, visiting family, running errands, you’ll find yourself constantly on the go. Since there is no way to avoid traveling, registering for these travel essentials are a must. The first and obvious item is a car seat. When it comes to picking out a car seat, do lots of research and figure out which brand, model, and the price range are perfect for you and your newborn.

A great option is choosing a travel system. Travel systems include the car seat, a car seat base, and a stroller. Next, think about if you are going to be someone who carries their baby. There are a lot of different options that you can choose from and these options demand a lot of research. You also might find that you will need to do some trial and error to see which carrier is best for you.

If you see yourself and your family doing a lot of travel, think about registering for the following two items. The first item would be a Rock N Play. These are the perfect substitute for a bassinet. Rock N Plays rock the baby and allows the baby to sleep comfortably. If Rock N Plays aren’t your thing, then definitely register for a Pack N Play. Again, this is a great substitute for a bassinet and crib. Pack N Plays allow your baby to sleep comfortably and safely.

Essentials:

While you might be thinking some of the items mentioned above are essentials, these are the smaller essential items that don’t necessarily have their own category. A diaper bag is a registry must-have. Babies require a lot of gear and the best way to keep track of everything is by using a diaper bag. Like most of the registry must-haves, diaper bags have a large variety of styles, brands, and colors. Be sure to do your research and try out as many diaper bags as you can before making your decision on which one to register for.

Next up on the registry must-haves list, blankets and swaddles. Not only are they needed to swaddle the baby so he/she sleeps better at night but these items are needed to help keep the baby warm. Plus, people love buying cute blankets and swaddles. Bibs, like blankets and swaddles, are fun for people to buy because of the large variety of cute designs, plus they help keep the baby clean and help prevent spit up/milk from ruining the baby’s clothes.

When it comes to health and safety, register for a grooming kit that has all of the baby essentials, such as a comb, brush, nail clippers, nail files, and more! A temporal thermometer is a great registry option. These thermometers allow for a quick forehead scan that quickly check the baby’s temperature. The quicker you find out the baby’s temperature the quicker you can get medicine to the baby, plus these are so much easier to use.
